Friday!

Oct. 26th, 2018 06:31 pm
With an hour and a half before a second half runthrough for the Scottish play, here's my [community profile] thefridayfive  for the week.

1. With Halloween coming this next week, do you have any seasonal activities you're planning on doing for the holiday?
My roommate and I are dressing up, her as Peter Capaldi's incarnation of the Doctor and myself as Captain Jack Harkness.

2. What is your favorite Halloween or dress up party costume you've had?
Probably my Winter Soldier costume the year before I came out and cut my hair, with a duck tape arm that took me a week to make. My half hour duck tape costumes fall close behind, though, both comfy sweatshirt Will Riker (Star Trek: TNG) and theatrical blacks Cyclops (X-Men, the black and red costume).

3. Which do you like better, apple cider or pumpkin spice flavoring?
I detest pumpkin, so I'll go with apple even though it tends to taste fake to me.

4. What is your favorite scary movie and why?
I honestly can't say. I was never much of a movie buff, because I didn't realize how desperately I needed captions to understand a single word of what was said. It'll take me a few more years to catch up. Only classic horror movie I've seen was Night of the Living Dead.

5. What traditionally "scary" monster or fear do you think is the most overrated and why?
Frankenstein's creation (not monster, dammit). This comic sums up my opinion pretty nicely (no image descriptions, sorry, I'm low on spoons).
Figured I might as well start doing these, just to have something to post.

1. What plans did you have for this summer?
I wanted to get a second draft of my second novel done, and perhaps get in some music practice.

2. Have you accomplished them or is it still a work in progress?
Writing was put on hold due to a tendinitis flare which progressed into a new location of trigger finger (a family problem, strangely). Some music practice has happened, however, which is nice. I'm picking up guitar pretty quickly thanks to Little Bear, and I've adapted my old violin skills to what my hands can handle.

3. What would make this summer much better for you?
Not having a tendinitis flare, trigger finger, or heat intolerance. That last one goes for every summer.

4. When did you go back to school from summer break when you were a kid?
My school was the only one in the area which didn't go back until after Labor Day. As far as I know, that's still true, even with a changed superintendent and new principals at two of the three schools.

5. Is anyone else as shocked as I am that July and most of the summer is nearly over?
YES.
